culture shock
Hola! We've finally made it to Peru, safe and sound. We spent today exploring Miroflores and spending some time by the beach. We also learned the hard way that crossing the streets in Lima is a complete joke. Lima driving is 10x worst than what you picture as aggressive driving! there's literally an 80% chance of death when crossing the roads, and here i'm talking about the richest part of lima too!
Another thing that's completely different here is that people will whistle and drop pick up lines, or check someone out with no shame at all! It's pretty hilarious, but gets annoying eventually and borderline creepy as well.
Also, cats roam around the city like they're our squirrels! So odd!
I'm looking forward to our surfing lesson for next Sunday, it'll be really amazing and fun to spend some time at the beach and learn to actually surf!
I've managed to pick up some Spanish here and there, but the language barrier is so wide that it really makes me regret not having paid more attention in class when I was younger!
Either way, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't homesick, but I'm trying to make the best out of this experience and hopefully we'll get the ball rolling and I'll forget about missing home.
Here are some pictures of our first day exploring Miroflores!
